As a Data Engineer at Optum, you’ll be responsible for working to build data pipelines that support our new Payment Integrity Command Centre. This new capability will be the central data and analytics hub that will monitor the millions of pre-payment and post-payment, clinical and non-clinical medical claim reviews that are performed on a daily basis. The command centre capability will include: the build out of new cloud-based central data repository, new user interfaces to manage service-level agreements for various metrics and vendor-partners, development of new business intelligence and advanced analytics to monitor and predict performance; development of an automated alerting system that will actively scan for anomalies - all with the aim of providing insights to more effectively manage our Payment Integrity operations across the globe.

Primary Responsibilities:

• 
  Develop data pipelines to ingest, transform and enrich data using clean coding principles
• 
  Own and manage the deliverables allocated to you, ensuring accurate documentation, testing and deployment
• 
  Contribute to common frameworks and best practices in code development, deployment and automation/orchestration of data pipelines
• 
  Partner with Business Intelligence and Product leaders to design best practices and standards for developing and productional analytic pipelines

Required Qualifications:

• 
  Hands-on experience developing data pipelines that demonstrate a strong understanding of software engineering principles
• 
  Ability to debug complex data issues while working on very large data sets with billions of records
• 
  Fluent in SQL, with experience using Window functions and more advanced features
• 
  Understanding of DevOps tools, Git workflow and building CI/CD pipelines
• 
  Ability to work with business and technical audiences on business requirement meetings, technical white boarding exercises, and SQL coding/debugging sessions

Preferred Qualifications:

• 
  Experience with Snowflake
• 
  Experience with relational data models and OLAP processing
• 
  Experience building data pipelines on either AWS, Azure or GCP, following best practices in Cloud deployments
• 
  Familiar with Airflow or similar orchestration tool
• 
  Experience working in projects with agile/scrum methodologies
• 
  Experience with shell scripting languages
• 
  Experience working with both real-time and batch data, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of both and when to apply one over another
• 
  Well versed in Python, in fulfilling multiple general-purpose use-cases, and not limited to developing data APIs and pipelines
